Don Riley announced that the Al Sigl Walkabout raised a total of $100,000, of which Rotarians contributed $2000 – Congrats and thanks to all walkers and their sponsors.
Sue Edgett announced June 9, 2003 for the golf tournament and reminded members that this is the second largest fund raiser for the club, only exceeded by Ziti. Sue urged each member to raise $75. See Sue for details of advertising, gift certificates, and other ways to contribute
Tom Lawson reported on the annual children’s Christmas Party which is to take place on December 11. See Tom if you can help him out on this worthwhile venture.

The Rochester Rotary Charitable Trusts will hold the 2002 Gala Holiday Pops Concert on Thursday December 19 at 8 PM in the Eastman Theater. Dick Baart has four sets of tickets left.
Today’s Program and Speakers: Jeanette Creighton and Connor Cusack gave a presentation on the “Asset Building” program in the Greece schools. Jeanette works at Athena and Connor works at Acadia. Jeanette described asset building as providing youth with examples, opportunities, and encouragement in areas of open family communications, service to others and the community, commitment to learning, positive values, decision making, self esteem, and other positive values. The program is based on research out of Minnesota which identified 40 assets which positively influence young people.

Induction of new member Past President Liz Richardson during her first meeting back from child birth presided over the induction of the club’s newest member Chuck Scarpulla. ON THE LIGHTER SIDE A man brought a very limp dog into the veterinary clinic. As he laid the dog on the table, Dr. Buck pulled out his stethoscope, placing the receptor on the dog’s chest. After a moment or two, the doctor shook his head sadly and said, “I’m sorry, but your dog has passed away.”
“What?” screamed the man. “How can you tell? You haven’t done any testing on him or anything. I want another opinion!”
With that, Dr. Buck turned and left the room. In a few moments, he returned with a Labrador Retriever. The retriever went right to work, sniffing the poor dog on the table and checking him out thoroughly. After a considerable amount of sniffing the retriever sadly shook his head and went, “Woof.”
The veterinarian then took the Labrador out and returned in a few moments with a cat, which walked around the poor dog several times and then sadly shook his head and said, “Meow.” He then jumped off the table and ran out of the room. The veterinarian said, “There’s nothing more I can do.”
He handed the man a bill for $600. The dog’s owner went postal. “Six hundred dollars just to tell me my dog is dead! This is outrageous!”
The vet shook his head sadly and explained, “If you had taken my word for it, the cost would have been $50, but with the Lab work and cat scan…
