Announcements: Club conveyed condolences to Frank and Barbara Ardino. Barbara’s mother recently passed away.
The Eastern Cities Dinner was attended by 25 Greece Rotarians. Those attending are asked to pay the $20 balance for the portion of the meal not covered by the club.
Last Wednesday the Adult Literacy Program had 180 graduates. Tracy Wooden expressed thanks to all the help that Greece Rotary has provided the program and thanked Colleen Meger and the Interact Club for help in preparing the graduation ceremony.
Tom Lawson is heading up the club’s Children’s Christmas Party. See Tom for opportunities to help out at this years event on December 11 at Ridgemont Country Club.
The board has proposed Brad Shea to replace Carla Vossler as club Vice President. (Carla has accepted a position in Columbus Ohio and will be moving on)
The board has also proposed a slate of six names for board membership. There are 3 open board vacancies to be elected. Members are encouraged to propose anyone they would like to be added to the slate for these positions.
Ralph DeStephano spoke on the importance of the Ziti Dinner to the club. The goal this year is for $300 in ticket sales per club member. The date is set for February 2nd. This date was chosen to lessen conflict with NFL games which may have been the cause of last years reduced attendance.
Today’s program and Speakers: Colleen Meger introduced the members of the Interact Club and spoke about how Interact builds leadership skills and self esteem within it’s membership. The Acadia Interact club has originated several programs on the initiative of the students. These include serving at the Cameron Church’s Lyle Ave soup kitchen, working with chronically ill children in the local hospital, and volunteering at the local assisted living center.
