Today’s Guest Speakers: Terri Abrams informed the group about the Flower City Down Syndrome Network which was established in 1991.  The network is non-profit with an operation budget of $30,000 with 144 member families.  They have two annual fundraisers.

Some things to note about Down Syndrome:

- Many different symptoms are possible

- Each individual is unique

- Prior to World War II the life expectancy was nine years of age - today it’s 55

-          Used to be institutionalized - now living at home with school and jobs a reality
