Induction: Past President Elizabeth Richardson and sponsor Roger Boily welcomed Steve Grimm, Executive Director of Secondary Schools for GCSD, into the club. He is the 413th member to join our club since its beginning in 1959. Steve noted that we will be getting a 2-for-1 membership from him, as his wife, Nikki, will also be involved with club activities. Be sure to give Steve a warm Greece rotary welcome the next time you see him!

Announcements: · Rotary Golf Tournament Monday, June 11, 2007 } Registration brochures were sent out to players from the last few years } Committee members will be calling each Club member to ask for their participation § Golfer / Foursome § Hole Sponsor § Raffle or Auction Items } Tee prize in a golf bag umbrella with Rotary logo } Volunteers are needed for different time slots during the day; sign-up sheets are on the tables or contact Sue Edgett · Golf Tournament for Fallen Firefighters June 11, 2007 at Deerfield Country Club } Over 100 of these tournaments are held annually in the US; this is the first time that it is being held in our area, and will hopefully become an annual event. Next year, organizers will plan for a date different from ours. The tournament benefits a foundation set up to assist spouses and families of fallen firefighters, including scholarship, etc. · Installation Diner Friday, June 15th Lakeshore Country Club · LPGA June 18-24 } Each member is expected to work three shifts in the Greece concession tent, or have a family member or friend cover their shifts. A day pass is given for each shift worked, with a weekly pass given for those people working three or more shifts. See Del Smith to sign up; he needs to turn in the names before the end of the month. } Nigerian Water Wells Linda Blossom reported that we have raised $7,300 over the past 1 ½ to 2 years to qualify for matching funds to build four wells. She has received numerous emails with reports of the status of the various projects. § The projects have commenced at tow of the schools with formal groundbreaking ceremonies having taken place. § The well has been completed at one of the nursery schools. § Work is now being done on the well at a secondary school. § Linda has pictures for anyone interested in viewing them. } Camp Haccamo Clean-up Day is this coming Saturday, May 19th. The group will working on planting flowers, cleaning our cabin and assisting with general yard and landscape clean-up.

Todays Program: Conor Cusack - Building Assets with Youth in the Greece Community } During his career, Conor has worked with youth that have not had the exposure to any kind of assets building. Through the efforts of the Greece Central School District, parents, local business leaders and other community members, they are addressing the challenge to reach all of the students in our area and have developed specific goals to reach their objectives. (See diagram of presentation below for more details.) o Increase the average number of developmental assets among Greece youth o Increase funding for assets activity o Increase cooperation and collaboration between sectors to promote and publicize positive youth development o Change adult and media perceptions to promote what youth are doing right instead of what theyre doing wrong o Identify specific assets that correspond with positive youth development activities
