Today’s Program and Guest Speakers

Dr. Steve Walts, Keith Imon, Bill DiCicco, Karen Hoffman

A presentation was made regarding the upcoming Greece School District Budget which is to be voted on May 21st.

A video made by the school district was shown.  It highlighted the many things the school district has achieved in the past number of years when the budget was voted in by the people of Greece.  The problem this year is New York State has changed the way they reimbursed school districts across the state.  They are delaying payment for capital expenses for 18 months instead of paying them as requests came in each year as was done in the past.  This has led to the Greece budget increasing the tax rate by 7.43%.  It was pointed out by Rich Vogelzang that even if the budget is defeated by the voters the tax rate increase with a contingency budget will still be over 7%.  The difference between the budget as presented and a contingency budget is .27%

The Greece School district members asked the club to vote for the budget and let others know the importance of this vote.

50/50 – Corey Knapp
