Dr. Dan (20 Mar) and B-day President Rich (21 Mar).  In honor of
Pres Rich's entry into the world he was presented with a Toga, Toga, Toga
singing birthday card.

 

Anniversaries:

Tom & Leslie Sime (10 March)

 

The meeting dipped a bit when Pres Rich shared a wholly inappropriate,
anti-attorney and somewhat slanderous lawyer joke.  Please note, the writer
is kissing up to JM Bansbach, Esq.

Pres Rich reminded the club of following events:  District Assembly:  eight
members are attending.  The District Conf to be held the first weekend in
May @ Turning Stone.  June 11:  Club Golf Tournament.  The cost is $135 per
golfer and that includes two meals and a round of golf.  June 15:
Installation Dinner.  The following week is LPGA and the Hole in One
Contest.

August 24 -  Harbortowne Belle Casino Night - details to follow ....
October 20 @ theRotary Lodge.Club clambake 


Pres Rich complimented the ongoing Public Relations efforts undertaken by
the club.  The Greece Post ads will continue and ads will also appear in two
upcoming issues of the D&C Our Towns publication.

Rich recognized Laurel Harrington and Gene Noga for their membership
recruitment of Jim Abrams and Kevin Kinnear respectively.

Dan Hedberg mentioned Camp Haccamo's Night of Recognition.  Dan, Brad Shea,
Brad Turner and Chuck Krause represented the club.  Haccamo honored major
supporters of the camp and unveiled a DVD presentation the Camp plans on
using for future fundraising.

Fining with Dave Nagle:
·   Dan Hedberg. challenged a member to cite the five principles of the 4 Way Test and offered $10 as an incentive.  Dianne took him up on the offer, recited the
five and donated the money back to the club.

·   Ralph Annucci.  not knowing the correct amount of the golf tournament

·   Lee Annucci.  scuba trip to Central America

·   Barb Accorso.  rent owed to Dave for keeping her lost appointment book safe.

·   Ryan Thauvette.  missed meetings due to mom and grandma suffering heart attacks.  All
are well now.

·   Paul Chatfield- question for Dan H regarding NASCAR the writer could not hear it all ... Something about a roof and the Daytona 500

·   Doug Hedberg Boca Raton golf vacation

·   Don Riley. Don offered $5 to anyone who could translate Boca Raton

·   Laurel Harrington. missed meeting

·   John Bansbach.  John offered $10 to anyone who could define "diphthong."
Fortunately, Dr. Dan had the dictionaries on hand and we were able to learn
a new word.  The definition has nothing to do with beachwear.

2. Request for leave of absence for Frank Ardino due to new job constraints.  Leave effective Wednesday March 21 @12:15:30 pm.  Frank will be expected to help at LPGA, Golf Tournament, fellowship events, etc.  President Rich will speak with Frank about leave requirements.

Club Service Committee - Brad Turner

1.       No report

 

Community Service Committee- Judie Van Bramer

1.       Golf Tournament – committee is applying to Walmart for $1000.00 grant

2.       Food Closet – Judie discussed possible food collection by club.  Board discussed this and recommended possible purchase of gift cards for food instead.

3.       Dictionary Project – Dan Barletta reviewed with board Literacy project planned for next fall.  Project will be joint project of Greece & Hilton clubs.  Grants applications to Senator Robach and District 7120 have been completed.  If funds are approved cost will be $500 for Greece and $250 for Hilton.  Project will run for three years.  If grant funding not approved, project will be only one year.  Cost to be split between clubs approx. $2439.00

 

International Service Committee - Linda Blossom

2. Possible Student Exchange student proposed by Frank Vella.  Linda and Rich to investigate.

Vocational Service Committee - Doug DeVey

Doug reported that Interact club wants to be more involved However, Odyssey Interact Club still needs to be chartered with RI and District 7120

 

President Rich provided Doug with District project for Interact clubs to collect used sneakers for project at District Conference

 

Old Business – Items not addressed above in officer and committee reports

 

Ziti Update – sub committee has met and reviewed this last Ziti dinner.  They have looked for price quotes on new aprons and hats for club members

 

Mini-Storage Climate controlled unit.  Rich had cost estimates for two different size units.  Linda and Del will makes calls to contacts and see if they can get better price.

 

Club Leadership Plan – Past Prez Jim Gaudet, President Rich, PE – Dan, VP – Ed and PN –Bill have met to prepare three year planning for club.  Will continue process in next couple months.

           

New Business:

Rotary Foundation: PE Dan Barletta related information for recent PETS.  Our club has no Annual funds contributions so far this year and none the last two years except Paul Harris money for awards given at installation dinner

Permanent fund approx $6500 given Jim’s year, $8200 this year.  Dan will ask District for printout of last few years for better review. And bring to next board meeting.  Possible contribution from any excess funds in this year’s budget and possibly put it into future budget.

 

Next BOD Meeting:  The meeting for nest month moved from April 16th to April 23rd, 2007 @ 6:30 p.m. Hosted by Bill Testa

An idea to foster fellowship was introduced by Pres Rich when he invited Ray
Pschierer to tell the club about himself. Ray is a metallurgist with a degree from the U of R and he worked for 35 years at BMH Steel before retiring from Klein Steel.  He retired in 1995 and also joined Greece Rotary in the same year.  He is married to Marge and has three children and seven grandchildren.  He likes include clambakes and dislikes peanut butter.  All in all, Ray is one hell of a nice guy.

50/50:  18 cards left with a pot of $1,075.  Steve Achramovitch. had the winning number and drew the losing card for $10.
