Today’s Guest Speaker: Linda Blossom, Greece Club Foundation Chair She utilized the matching grants program, and was extremely effective in doing multiple projects. Linda plans to update the club’s website with the information. Projects included the Sun Ovens in Nicaragua, a joint project with the Farmington/Victor club. Shelter Boxes that cost $1000 each and can accommodate up to ten people were given to people displaced by the war in Uganda, and one went to displaced Karina victims here in the states. We partnered with the Canandaigua Club on the Malowi Children’s Village project that was established by the Peace Core to help support orphans of AIDS victims. A community development project to help a student in medical and agricultural education has been pledged $860 from us. Photos of the recipients of the wheel chairs were shared by Linda. The Wheelchair Foundation cares for people with mobility disabilities around the world. The cost is $75 per chair and comes in various sizes. Our club has give 15 wheelchairs every year for the past three years. You can go on-line to make a personal donation. Linda has done an excellent job, and she now serves on the matching grants committee for the district. A book will be donated to the library in Linda Blossom’s name.
