Call for New Business

a)       Rich Vogelzang – Discussed appointments of Greece Rotary members to director positions that will open on 7/1/07 due to term expiration of some members and officer movement of others.  The recommendations were based on the December 2006 club elections.  After a full group discussion, the board accepted the assignments.

Brian Cacia & Tracy Wooden were elected to full 3-year terms (7/1/07 – 6/30/10).  Larry Wills will have the other full 3-year term.

Judie VanBramer will fill out the 2 years of Bill Gormont’s unexpired term as he moves from a board member at large into the Vice President position.  Her new term will be 7/1/07 – 6/30/09.  The logic of picking Judie for this spot is that she is already on the BoD and has had the opportunity to serve almost a full 3 years.

b)       Bill Gormont – Rich DeAsis, Assistant District Governor Area 4 and immediate Past President of the Dansville Club has approached us asking if we would be interested in hearing about their Matching Grant project for a water project in Honduras.  They have been supporting our Ziti Dinner (2006 and 2007) at the $100 Business Card level.  Linda Blossom will discuss possibilities with Rich DeAsis this week.  Ed D’Angelo will assign a speaker’s spot on our agenda.

c)       Dan Barletta – Discussed a proposal for our club to begin operating under the new RI Club Leadership Plan (CLP) for a period of one year beginning July 1, 2007.  The purpose of the CLP is to strengthen the Rotary club by providing the administrative framework of an effective club.  The club committee and sub-committee structure would change to align function grouping of the various committee and operational initiatives.  The bulk of the existing committees would remain, but would have a modified reporting structure.  See attachments of the RI Club Leadership Plan.

Motion Call:  Greece Rotary Club begin operating under the new RI Club Leadership Plan (CLP) for a period of one year beginning July 1, 2007.  Dan Barletta would discuss our intent at the President-Elect Training in March 2007.  Dan Barletta and Rich Vogelzang would roll-out plan to the general club at the lunch meeting on March 28, 2007. - Rich Vogelzang

1st motion to accept:  Jim Gaudet; 2nd motion to accept:  Joe Darweesh

Vote:  In favor:  All; Opposed:  None; Motion outcome:  Pass

d)       Bill Testa – Discussed Circuit City retail store opportunity.  Circuit City encourages their employees to participate collectively in community service at a level of 100 hours per month.  After this community service delivery, Circuit City awards the receiving community service group $1,000.  Every 6 months, Circuit City donates $10,000 to the community.  Bill Tests gained support of the BoD to further the discussions to connect Greece Rotary with this funding opportunity.
