Cash position as of December, 31 2001 is $9,268. This amount dose not include approximately $18,000 of deposits in early January for the ZITI dinner.

Our fund balances as of December 31, 2001 are as follows:

            Liotta Scholarship Fund              $22,452

            M. Moraes Scholarship Fund          3,839

            World Community Fund                  1,307

There were no major income items for the month of December, 2001.

Our year to date net income for the first six months of our fiscal year amounted to $2,835.

Major expenditures for December included:

Club Christmas Party expenditures of $929.

BOCES Kids Christmas Party expenses of $1,888.

M.H. Brown expenses paid to Marriott of $1,950.

President’s Comments:

Paul Chatfield has sent a letter to the Board submitting his resignation from the Board of Directors.  Paul’s term had 2 ½ years remaining and the board reluctantly accepted his resignation.  Dianne Berardicurti was nominated to fill out Paul remaining term and Board accepted and approved the nomination.

Club Service:

We currently have 91 members, including Phil Doane’s recent resignation due to his moving back to where he grew up.  After Steve DiGennaro and Debra Walker are inducted over the next two weeks, the club will be at 93 members.  John Lioi pointed out that the most members inducted in a one year period was 18 in 1997-1998.  We will be up to 12 for the current year after the next two inductions.

Community Service:

Tracy will be pulling together her committee in February to determine our literacy project for this year.

International Service:

There was discussion again, about the potential for Greece Rotary to host an exchange student for the next fiscal year 2002-2003.  Mike Taylor will follow up and get more details.

Dave Taylor has been appointed to the District 7120 Rotary Foundation Permanent Fund Committee.  Dave spoke about the identity crisis within many of the clubs in our district.  Many Rotarians have no idea what the Foundation dose or what is.  Dave stated that our Greece clubs average per member contribution to the Rotary Foundation for the latest fiscal year ended June 30, 2001 was $1.16/member.  In fairness to our club, we did not make our $2,000 contribution last year due to credits we had available and our cash shortfall.  Dave to form a committee to address this issue and keep the foundation in the forefront at our weekly lunch meetings.

Vocational Service:

None

Old Business:

Ralph Annucci gave the board an update on the success of the Ziti Dinner which occurred this past Sunday, January 20, 2002 at the Diplomat Party House.  As of today, approximately $27,400 had been collected with much still to come in. 30 members still have to turn in money.  More to come once all money is collected and all expenses have been paid.

New Business:

At last week’s luncheon, a social event involving the Soprano’s was brought up.  Concern was expressed that if we do such an event, we do not “front” any money for this event since we came out of pocket at Joey’s and Maria’s wedding a few years back.  It was suggested that before any commitment is made, that we collect the money upfront from potential members and guests.

Dan Barletta suggested that we look at a fall fundraiser, specifically, a raffle based on the daily numbers.  Dan and Liz Richardson to get together and come up with ideas to bring to the board.

Next Board meeting is Monday February 11, 2002 at Rich Vogelzang’s Home.
