Today’s program and Speakers: President Del gave a discussion about the upcoming Greece Rotary Golf Tournament. The club first sponsored the tournament in 1995. It was held at Deerfield CC. Rino and Gene Noga gave a little more history of the event prior to 1995. Prior to 1995 attempts were made to begin the tournament it took three years before they were able to raise about $1100.00 for the community. Most of the money raised by the tournament goes to the Greece Little League Challenger Division. Prior to 1995 the club gave $500.00 to the league but then Dave Nagel and Ralph Annucci hooked it up with Rotary to run the tournament. A number of years ago the Greece Little League bought land in North Greece for a baseball field complex. In this complex is a special field for the challenger division to play on. Recently dugouts have been built on the field to protect the players. The club has donated $35,000.00 over the years about $5,000.00 per year to the league. Ralph Annucci stated that most of moneys raised during tournament come from Hole Sponsors. We do not make much on the golfers but everyone is encouraged to participate. The format is a scramble. This year the tournament is June 10th at Ridgemeont Country Club. The club has committed $5,000.00 of this year’s money to be raised to the Greece Little League Challenger Division. Rino is Honorary Chairman of the tournament. Sue Edgett & Bob Potter are co-chairs
