Today’s program and Speakers:

Mike Leone spoke on his recent trip to Nigeria to assist with administering polio vaccines for the Rotary Polio Plus program.  Mike pointed out that of the 8 countries where the polio virus is still endemic; Nigeria and India are the most severe.  To date, in Nigeria’s 150 million population, Rotary has vaccinated 40 million children age 5 or under.  Each vaccine costs 50 cents per dose.  Mike acknowledged the efforts of Greece Rotary’s own Liz Richardson and Kim Putman who have led the recent pledge campaign which has raised nearly $22,000 in addition to Greece Rotary’s initial contribution of $43,000 when the Polio Plus campaign was initially launched several years ago.
