Old Business – Items not addressed above in officer and committee reports-     None

New Business:

1.   Dave Nagel presented a proposal from the Paul Harris Committee for a new structure in funding the award.

Currently the club is budgeted for $2000.00 towards the Paul Harris Award. This money is given annually to the Rotary Foundation giving the club 2 Paul Harris awards to be used. The Paul Harris committee is then responsible for selecting the award winners.

The new proposal is for the budget to be increased to $4000.00 per year. Potentially, two Paul Harris awards would be selected from inside our club, one from outside the club and an existing Paul Harris would be raised to a Sapphire level.

In addition they propose as an incentive for new Paul Harris participation, to match dollar for dollar any Rotarian contribution to the foundation to bring them up to the level of a Paul Harris.

            Example:          $500.00 Rotarian Contribution

                                    $500.00 Club Credit Dollars

                                    $1000 = 1 new Paul Harris

After a very lengthy discussion a motion was made to accept the part of the proposal to use the current club credits as an incentive for Paul Harris participation.

The motion is as follows: The existing credits will be used to match dollar for dollar any Rotarian to the foundation to equal the level of a Paul Harris award beginning July 1, 2008.

            Motion Call:  Dan Barletta

1st motion to accept: Ed D’Angelo; 2nd motion to accept:  Andy Gray

Vote:  In favor: 9l; Opposed: 1; Motion outcome: Passed

There was additional discussion of the proposed change in the budget to $4000 for the Paul Harris Award and it was decided that it was a budgeted item that had to be determined by the incoming President and voted on at that time.

Next BOD Meeting:  May 20nd at 6:30 p.m., Hosted by:  Judie VanBramer, 890 Winona Blvd,

Emergency Board Meeting March 26, 2008

Addendum to Minutes:

March 26th, 2008, Request from Dave Nagel of the Paul Harris Committee

The request was made of the Board of Directors for funds to cover one or more additional Paul Harris Awards beyond what is budgeted for this in this year’s budget.   After some discussion, it was recommended that the two “in club” awards, if there are two, be allotted from the budgeted funds.  The Community award and the Paul Harris elevation should be taken from club credits.  It is the feeling of the board that the community recipient would not care where the funds/credits came from and the member elevated would follow the method used for Joe Distante.  Additionally, the board felt that if there an additional $1000.00 to be spent that another Rotary project would be more beneficial and prudent.

Motion Call: The two “in club” awards, if there is two, would be allotted from the budgeted funds– Dan Barletta

1st motion to accept:  Bill Gormont; 2nd motion to accept:  Andy Gray

Vote:  In favor:  8; Opposed:  None; Abstentions: 2; Motion outcome:  Pass
