Today’s Guest Speakers: Harry (Tom) Coene [district coordinator] and T.C. Pellet [marketing director/Seneca Park Zoo] presented the Group Study Exchange Program which is sponsored by the Rotary Foundation.  This year the exchange will be with the country of Greece.  In 2009, Brazil will be the destination.  T.C. was part of the 2007 contingent that went to Africa.  He took away three learnings from the experience: 1) we are part of a much larger world, 2) the needs of developing countries are many [and money isn’t necessarily the top priority] and 3) the program is one of the best ways to get more people involved in Rotary.  At the end of the presentation, Deb Whitt, who participated in a 1990 exchange with the Phillipines, shared her learnings with the group.
