Anniversaries: Al & Judy Meilutis celebrated their 22nd anniversary on April 18th. Dave Nagel toasted the couple and led us in a song.

Announcements: Paul Harris Fellows Attention Paul Harris fellows. There will be a meeting immediately after our regular meeting on April 24th to nominate Paul Harris Fellows for 2002. If you cannot attend, please send your nomination to Dr. Rich Strauss.
LPGA Raffle Tickets - Sue Edgett is collecting money for the tickets. She also has extra tickets for any member who may need them.
Today’s program and Speakers: Greece Rotary Board Meeting Notes – Monday March 15, 2002. President Del thanked Greg Halstead for hosting the meeting.
Treasurers Report: Cash position as of March 31, 2001 was $33,932. Greg Halstead and Del Smith to review our budgeted expenditures and pay out before next months board meeting. Fund balances as of March 31, 2002 are as follows: Liotta Scholarship Fund $22,452 M. Moraes Scholarship Fund 3,839 World Community Fund 1,307
Major income item was the $1,200, which was a donation made by First Niagara Bank for the Greece Summer Camp program run by Frank Ardino. Expenditures included, $500 deposit to Ridgemont Country Club for the Golf Tournament and $679 paid to Coca-Cola for the Ziti soda.
Our year to date net income for the first nine months of our fiscal year amounted to $27,499.
Club Service: We currently have 95 members, including our latest member addition Timothy Hack. We are 5 short of our goal of 100 members by June 30, 2002, which is the end of our fiscal year. All members will be encouraged to bring in prospective members for lunch. President Del received an E-mail from past president Jack Best about a prospective member. He forwarded it on to Dave Nagel who has called prospect but has not received a return call. Dave to follow up.
It was requested that the board review at each every board meeting, attendance reports from the weekly luncheons. Concern that there are presently members who have not been around for several months. Sue Edgett will coordinate with John Zink to have these reports available at each weekly luncheon for review.
Community Service: Tracy held a Literacy Committee meeting on April 3rd to determine our literacy project for this year. Carol Miller from the Community Education program will be our guest speaker at our June 3rd luncheon. Tracy and committee to make there recommendations to the board as to the use of our $500 commitment. International Service: Mike Taylor sent information on Greece and the surrounding area to our exchange student, Carlotta Scarpa last week. We do have two host families committed for the year, President Del and Kim Putnam. We still need at least one more family to host her for a 3-4 month period. Please contact Mike for any questions or if you have any interest in hosting. It was also decided that a monthly stipend of $75 per month will be given to Carlotta as spending money.
A matching grant contribution of $1,000 was approved for the KDN Shruti School in Bombay, India that provides school education to hearing impaired children. Our $1,000 contribution will be matched by another $1,000 by the Rotary Foundation. Four other local clubs are also involved in the project, Elmira, Wellsville, Penfield and Rush Henrietta. A second project Mike brought to the board was shelved until we get more information.
Vocational Service: A $125 expenditure was made by the club for the interact club. The money is being used to subsidize a trip for the kids to a Broadway show. The interact club budget still has $875 remaining and President Del to contact Colleen Meger to get ideas for utilizing.
Old Business / New Business: Sue Edgett and Dave Koteskey gave the board an update on the Greece Rotary Golf Tournament. The date is June 10, 2002 at Ridgemont Country Club. A “Save the Date” mailer went out to all golfers and sponsors from last year’s event and the actual brochures will be mailed out in the next week. All members are encouraged to golf and bring a guest or to get hole sponsorships. Information on both will be available at all future weekly luncheons up to the date of the event. The committee is also looking for donation of raffle prizes. The tournament raises about $11,000-12,000, of which $5500.00 goes to the Greece Little League Changer Division. The rest remains with the club.
The LPGA is also right around the corner. The re-certification course is set for Tuesday April 23 at Ridgemont Country Club. The final certification is April 23 and 24 at the Monroe County Health Department and President Del and Dan Barletta are signed up to attend. Dave Nagel noted that members need to be reminded that in addition each member being required to work three 4 hour shifts during the tournament week, they also need to bring additional volunteers to help staff our tent.
The board reviewed a list of committees put together by Sue Edgett, both already existing and ones to be formed. President Del to discuss at upcoming luncheons and will encourage all members to serve on at least one committee. Future programs will discuss the function and time commitment of each committee.
